A full cloud phone system. Built in.
Don't want to run your own PBX? You don't need to. Membership includes a hosted cloud PBX — IVR menus, hunt groups, time-of-day routing, voicemail-to-email, call recording, virtual receptionists. Works from any office, home or mobile with an internet connection.
We configure it for how your business actually answers calls — not a template.
A team that knows your name.
Not a call centre. Not a ticket queue. A small UK team who know your business, your setup, and pick up when you ring. Same people every time. We'll happily get on a call and walk through anything — routing changes, a new starter, a weird voicemail you can't find.
UK business hours, with out-of-hours cover for anything critical (phones down, routing broken).
Once you're a Member, there's nothing left for us to sell you. Our job is to support you, not sell to you.
- —No contracts. Trapping customers is what bad telecoms do.
- —No per-number fees. Charging rent on a database row is dishonest.
- —No marked-up call rates. We already make money on the Membership. The wholesale rate we pay is the rate you pay us.
- —No bolt-ons. Every feature we build belongs to every Member.
- —No portal you have to learn. You didn't go into business to learn telecom software. We configure things for you.
- —Real humans answer the phone. Not a premium tier. The basic dignity of being a customer.
- —No premium-rate numbers. 084, 085, 087, 09 and 118 numbers exist to extract money from callers. We haven't sold them since 2010. We only offer 01, 02, 03, 0800 and 0808 — better for the consumer dialling in, better for the business taking the call.
Membership is the only thing we sell.
Every other telecom provider's business depends on marking up what they sell you — calls, numbers, voicemail licences, IVR add-ons, premium hardware. Every line item on your bill is a margin opportunity for them.
The Membership is our entire product. Calls, phones and features pass straight through to you at the supplier price we pay, with nothing added. There's nothing to upsell because there's nothing else to sell.
Best value today. Best value in five years. Best value as long as you're a Member.
The longer you're a Member, the more it's worth.
Telecom contracts are designed to extract more from you over time. Mid-contract price rises. Automatic renewals at new tariffs. Fees that didn't exist when you signed up.
Membership runs the other way. Your £149 fee covers the relationship, and we'll always give existing Members twelve months' notice if we ever need to change it. The rates you pay for calls track our wholesale costs — they move down when costs fall, and we'll be honest if they ever need to move up. The phones we sell you get cheaper as the supplier updates them. Every new feature we build, you get free.
Five years in, you'll be paying the same Membership and getting more for it than you got on day one.
We don't have a sales team.
When you call your current telecom provider, the person on the line has a script. Their job — whether they admit it or not — is to make sure you're paying for as many services as they can sell you, and to keep you on the line long enough that you don't leave.
The people who answer the phone here are the people who set up your account, transfer your numbers, fix your routing, and help your team configure their handsets. There's no commission, no quota, no “let me transfer you to retention”. The Membership is the whole product, so there's nothing to sell.
Same staff every time. Real names. UK phone numbers. We answer.
What it looks like in real life.
Five typical businesses. What they pay at retail, what they pay on Membership, and what that adds up to over a year. Retail figures use current public competitor pricing; wholesale figures use the same wholesale rates published on our call rate card.
Membership pays back in the first bill if any of these apply.
The maths above is illustrative. Here's the practical shorthand — if you can tick any one of these today, the relevant Membership fee is already covered before we count anything else:
- You spend more than ~£150/month on call charges today
- You pay for more than 3 phone numbers or lines
- You're on a per-seat softphone or UC plan (RingCentral, 8x8, Vonage, etc.) with 5+ users
- You run a SIP trunk with 5+ channels
- You pay extra for call recording, IVR, voicemail menus, or softphones beyond a basic plan
- You're transferring numbers in or out frequently
- You're paying for “premium” or out-of-hours support
If none of those apply— for instance, you're a sole trader with a single number and you make under an hour of calls a month — Membership probably isn't right for you yet. Buy a memorable number outright if you want one, and come back when you've grown. We'd rather lose your signup today than have you on a Membership that doesn't pay for itself.
Member-grade disclosure, all the limits in plain English.
Members aren't customers — they're owed full disclosure. Here's every operational limit, caveat, and edge-case we know of, written the way we'd want it written if we were the ones paying.
- With one number per user and typical number and feature add-ons, Membership starts paying off around 6 users before call charges. With one shared number, the £15/user benchmark plus £13 in number and feature charges crosses over at 10 users before call charges. Multiple numbers, SIP trunks or hardware can change the comparison. If you're a 1-2 person business with one mobile and a single 0800, basic per-user VoIP at £15/user/month will be cheaper than us — come back when you've grown or your needs are more complex.
- £149/month is the only price — no annual discount, no tiered plans, no enterprise upgrade. Membership covers up to 25 phone lines; bigger requirements get a chat about how we set you up.
- Paid by Direct Debit (first month via Stripe, then DD takes over from month two)
- Handsets are Grandstream only — if you want Yealink, Cisco, or another brand, buy them elsewhere and we'll provision them
- Expensive call destinations blocked by default — we protect Members from accidental bill shock; ask if you have specific needs
- A security deposit may be required depending on company status, accounts, or expected call volume — standard wholesale-industry practice
- Per-active-install softphone billing — no named-user seat licences to manage; you only pay for installs actually in use
- Support is UK business hours, plus emergency out-of-hours cover for anything critical (phones down, routing broken, emergency call diversions). Not 24/7 follow-the-sun.
- Transferring out of NumberGroup-allocated numbers: £125 admin fee covers our genuine cost handling the regulated paperwork. Numbers you brought in transfer out free.
- If you stop being a Member, NumberGroup-allocated numbers return to our inventory. Numbers you brought in stay yours and transfer to wherever you go next.
Keep your numbers. Lose the line rental.
Every UK phone number you currently rent — 01, 02, 03, 0800, 0808 — can transfer to your Membership at no charge. Bring one, bring fifty. Every line rental you're paying right now disappears once we've completed the transfer.
You don't have to risk anything. Numbers stay live with your current provider throughout. The switch happens automatically once it's complete, and you do nothing on the day — calls just start arriving at your new Membership routing.
UK number transfers are gaining-provider-led— we (NumberGroup) drive the process with your old provider on your behalf, whether that's your existing supplier, their carrier, or a chain of resellers in between. You sign a one-page authorisation form, we handle BT, Ofcom, and the cut-over. Your existing service keeps running the entire time. The number switches over at an agreed time window, usually first thing in the morning, with zero downtime for inbound callers.
- 1Send us your list of numbersDDIs, landlines, freephones, fax lines, ISDN channels — whatever you currently pay for. CSV, spreadsheet, screenshot, photo of an old phone bill. No special format needed.
- 2We send you a one-page authorisationYour old provider needs written authorisation to release the numbers. We pre-fill it with your numbers and details, you sign electronically. Takes 60 seconds.
- 3We file the regulated request via BT WholesaleAs an Ofcom-licensed UK carrier (CUPID 802) we file directly with BT Wholesale. BT charges us £2.49–£116 per number; we absorb the fee. Standard window: 5–10 working days, occasionally faster.
- 4Your old provider must release under Ofcom rulesThey have a legal obligation to action the transfer. They can't 'lose' your numbers, refuse without a documented reason, or charge an exit fee to a UK business beyond their published terms.
- 5Your numbers stay live throughout the windowCalls keep arriving on your existing provider's network. Customers, suppliers, your team — nobody notices anything is happening. We agree a cut-over time with you 48 hours before the move.
- 6Cut-over, then we ring you within minutesAt the agreed time (usually 07:00 or 08:00 to minimise impact) calls start arriving at NumberGroup. The UK team rings you to confirm everything works end-to-end before signing off. Old provider's bill stops on the cut-over date.
Four ways to take calls. Pick whichever suits how you already work.
Most Members start with the first option because it changes nothing about their existing setup. The other three are options you grow into when you want to — or never, if you don't.
- 1
Divert to your existing landline or mobile
Most commonKeep your phones, keep your existing provider, change nothing. We point your NumberGroup numbers at the lines you already have. Calls forward at our wholesale rate — about 0.31p per minute to a UK landline, about 0.64p per minute to a UK mobile. Cheapest way to get started.
